…but I have a friend who really wanted his autograph and that was the only thing I was intent on accomplishing. They’d told us there would only be a few minutes so I channeled by inner asshole and went for it. And got the autograph.
Then I literally said “Now down to business” and got his autograph for my friend.
“Now down to business” Good line.
Hey, you were on a mission for a friend! You get things done.
Sorry Glacenoire, I neglected to gauge his height in comparison to me (though I did have to reach up so he’s taller than 5’2”)
He’s taller than I am, but I have to factor in my predilection for towering heels. OK, note to self, lose the heels.
and I also did not notice how he smelled.
I do not recall asking this, but I wouldn’t put it past me. In my imagination it is a combination of Brylcreem, shirt starch, and green fields.
Rob got them to sign the inner sleeve from my original copy of KMH so I got an autograph too.
OK, the most important thing I’ve learned is to take someone else with you to be the cognizant person. Preferably someone who is not a Sparks fan, to act as a sort of designated driver.
This way, when you can’t look Ron Mael in the face because it is like looking into the sun*, there is someone there to keep the ball rolling down the practical pathway of autographs and photos.
* this is not my own line.
Sparks - Heaven and Earth (by dcee73)
I want to travel in space listening to Sparks
I too want to travel in space listening to Sparks!
…and exhausted!
And I didn’t even do anything.
I can only imagine how Ron and Russell Mael and all the fans who actually went to the shows must feel!
Someone reblogged my year-old post and reminded me of the idea…I still want to see and hear this!

SparksOfficial Thank goodness! I was getting worried that smutty innuendo and partial nudity were reserved for the European market. |
Blake, you transcend mere matter, and indeed even time and space.
That has already been proven with statistical analysis.
You are also the reason I joined Tumblr. You blogged both Sparks and Norma Shearer, and that was it for me!
I had just had to participate.
I had found my people.
