There is a scene from “The Big Sleep” that has a very funny and sexy bit of dialog.
Marlowe meets Lauren Bacall’s younger sister in the hall, and she says, “You’re not very tall, are you?” Then he sits with the father in the overheated orchid room, sweating. When he is leaving the butler tells him that Lauren Bacall would like to see him.
He goes into her room, and she says, “My, you are a mess, aren’t you”, and he says with a snorting grin, “And I’m not very tall, either.”
In that moment he is completely sexy.
